Winter Solstice
The Winter Solstice was on Friday 23rd June at the Yarning Circle area. It was organised by the P&C and Hilton Primary Year Six students took the opportunity to fundraise at the event.
The Winter Solstice is a celebration of the shortest day of the year.
We started the afternoon off with selling brownies and hot chocolate. We attracted a lot of customers. We sold the brownies for two dollars and the hot chocolate for two dollars.
The Bucket Hat Bunch performed at the Winter Solstice on the veranda instead of outside stage because of the weather. They played three songs, including, Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes, Better than me by The Brobecks and Zombie by The Cranberries.
As people started to settle down Mr Pritchard, our music teacher, started to play some of his original songs and the crowd loved it. After that some kids came and sung Riptide by Vance Joy and they also sung From Little Things Big Things Grow.
Families got to spend the evening wandering along the Nature Trail viewing the Fairy House made by students.
Overall it was a great evening and everyone loved the hot chocolate and Brownies. Also a big thanks to the Year Six kids and a very big thanks to Mr Pritchard for organising the speakers and sound.
