Although national Book Week and the announcement of the winning books in the Children’s Book Council Awards for 2020 was delayed until Term 4, we began exploring the theme Curious Creatures, Wild Minds in Term 3 at Hilton PS. Each class celebrated Book Week/ Book Month activities over a few weeks in Term 3. We really enjoyed celebrating our love of books and our favourite characters at our Book Week Dress Up day on Wednesday 2nd September. Staff, students and enthusiastic parents were encouraged to “go wild with reading” and it was wonderful to see how many students brought books with them to match their costumes in the Book Week dress up parade, which was held outside on the basketball court.
Thank you to families for your support with books, costumes and enthusiasm. Thank you also to Mrs Fiona Romanin who took some beautiful photos of this event.
Our staff organised a broad array of literature based activities which continued to the end of Term 3. In keeping with the 2020 Book Week theme Curious Creatures, Wild Minds, we discovered a number of nests that appeared in our school grounds, and became curious about creatures that hatched from them!
