On Saturday, 21st May 2022, the Federal Election was held, with Hilton Primary School acting as a polling place for Fremantle. We saw just over 1400 people come through the school to cast their vote.
Hilton PS P&C held the traditional Election Day Sausage Sizzle and Cake Stall and this year we were also selling our Hilton T-shirts and Shopping Bags and had artworks on display from our HPS Art Project and a stall from the Hilton Harvest selling their seedlings and olive oil.
We had a large team of volunteers who helped us get through the day and we could not have done it without them!
Thanks to our coordinators Mel McGrath, Leila Reay and Rebecca Leonard. Thanks also to the early birds who helped us set up to be ready for the first egg and bacon rolls to be served at 8am: Damian Laird, Tim Hume, Torsten Reiners and Jason Heeris. We had an awesome team of spinners on the bbq including Thomas Bale, Emma Orchard, Kaya Clifford, Lucas Sandor, Matt Simpson, Matt Watson and Ben Kelly. And helping to serve our baked goodies on the cake stall were Hayley Atherton, Rebecca De Silva, Melissa Danks, Naomi McKenzie, Aimee Simpson, Gemma Aldred, Lara Taylor, Daniela Melo and Tanis Kelly. The exhibition of our HPS Art pieces was taken care of by Amanda Hodgson and Dee Strandley. And thank you to Danny Bentley and Anton McKay who helped us out in getting prepped with all the right equipment.
Special thanks to Pezzano’s, Sealanes and Thomas Bale from Mi Casa who made donations toward the costs of our supplies for the day.
We would also like to send out a massive thanks to everyone who donated their time to bake the delicious treats for the cakes stall.
And, finally, thanks to everyone who came down to school on Election Day to vote, or even if they had voted early, to come and say hi, have a sausage or cake, buy a t-shirt or bag and view the amazing artworks from our students.
Thanks to Fiona Romanin from Petite Exposure for the photos from the day.
