Footy Winter Carnival
On the 23rd of June, Hilton Primary went to the Dick Lawrence for the footy carnival. A couple of the year 4, 5, 6 students formed a team to verse other local schools in Fremantle.
Early on everyone gathered at school at 8am to catch the bus at 8:30, everyone was jumping with excitement. We hopped on the bus, and everyone was roaring as soon as we got on the bus. We were the second to arrive, and we jumped straight into training.
We had a bye the first game then we had our first game, and everyone wanted to start playing. The first game, we versed last years winners Fremantle. It was a close, and a tough game, but we ended getting the win. We snatched them from the win by 2 points.The second game we came up against White Gum Valley.We played our hearts out, and we won by 2 goals.
Game 3 we versed the next door neighbours, East Hamilton Hill. We played our best in the first half, and in the second half we held our lead. We ended up winning by a goal. The final game we versed Winterfold, we sadly lost but soon it was presentation time.
It was presentation time everyone was bitting their nails as they called the teams out. “in 5th place is White” there was a sigh of relief as that was the place we came last year.”in 4th place is East Hamilton Hill” there was faith.”in 3rd place is Winterfold” now we were on our toes. Now Fremantle, and Hilton won 3 games each. However Hilton won in the Fremantle vs Hilton game so Hilton wins. It was a close game, and the winner won by two point, and it’s … Hilton”, everyone erupted with joy, and excitement. Then Darryl, Banjo, and Cooper came up to get the two shields. We were, so excited and happy that we won.
