NAIDOC Week
Last week, Hilton Primary celebrated NAIDOC Week. As part of our NAIDOC celebrations, all students created a hand coloured like flame (in keeping with the “Keep the fire burning” theme). On this flame/hand, they included their first name, their year level, as well as a short statement about where their family has lived/does live in Australia and which First Nation that area belongs to.
As part of our assembly, students placed their hands on a large interactive map of Australia. Each class had families organise rugs and damper, and students enjoyed a picnic of damper with butter and jam at the conclusion of the assembly.
In the afternoon, our primary students enjoyed Indigenous dance workshops with Olman Walley on Friday afternoon.
