We had a small but strong turn out to our first busy bee for the year. We focussed on three main areas:
- The Early Childhood river bed
- weeding, mulching, stabilising the river bed & protecting sedges planted last year, re-filling the middle sand pit, preparing garden beds for planting at the next busy bee!
- The Middle Playground
- weeding, mulching, cleaning up (buckets full of rubbish collected!), re-setting the nature play, stepping stones and Wagyl.
- The Nature Play Space near the yarning circle.
- Moved large logs off the grass (due to difficulty mowing and managing grass around the logs), added lots of marine rope over, under and around the play space to enhance play opportunities and allow the space to continue to be used as an outdoor classroom.
A huge thank you to all of our amazing volunteers, even the kids helped out with rolling logs, collecting rubbish, tidying the bush trail rocks and testing out the reinvigorated Nature Play Space!!
Our next busy bee is likely to focus on the yarning circle and plantings!!! It’s a great way to spend a Sunday morning, so hopefully you can join us next time – Sunday 23rd May.
A big thank you to Jeyco Australia for the donated rope, and Yaz & Dan for the cable drums aka new “tables” for the mud kitchen restaurants!!
We hope you and our kids enjoy the little changes and any feedback is most welcome!!
Your friendly Grounds Committee!!
