Year Six Camp

Year Six Camp 2023

On the 22nd of August 2023, all the Hilton Year Six students went on camp. When we arrived we met Kyle or some people call him Batman. Batman told us the rules of camp and showed us around. We looked in our dorms  and got set up. Batman said we came in to camp so we could connect and have fun. That’s how Year Six camp started.

Day 1
The year sixes arrived at camp around 10:30 and got set up. The first activity was ambush and not so long after we went orienteering. We then had free time until dinner. For dinner we had lasagne and for dessert we had chocolate cake. Later was games and we played two. Then it was bed time at 9pm.

Day 2
On day two we woke up at five and had breakfast which was croissants , toast , juice  and even baked beans. After breakfast it was cubby building and bush trails. We built our cubbies in groups. For team building the we played two first one was in teams but game one was as a whole class and we needed work together. in the afternoon we had archery tag in three teams. For dinner was chicken with roast potatoes. After dinner we had a night walk and my group got left alone in the dark and we had to find our way back to camp.

Day 3
First we had forest ecology where we dug up onion grass and pulled out trees. Later we had raft building where no groups could float on the water, so all the groups got dunked and soaked. We stayed in our wet clothes for free time and the commando course where everyone was rolling in mud and we had to have two showers. We had creamy chicken pasta which was not very good and ice-cream with oreos for dessert. We watched ice age and then went to bed.

Day 4
On day four we woke up and had breaky a little bit later before getting ready for the flying fox. We got ready and went up the tall tower toward the zip line and we had our first turns. Once everybody had a go, we had our second and third turns before packing up to leave. We got on the bus for the ride home. After about one and a half hours of driving we got off the bus at school, just before three o’clock.

Year 6 Camp 2023

On the 22nd of August the Year 6’s went to 2023 camp. We arrived at 10:30 at camp for 2023.We had a introduction with Kyle ,but some people call him Batman. He told us where our cabins where and the rules. He also said the main reason where at camp to have fun, and that’s exactly what we did.

The first event of the camp was Ambush, we met a guy called Crash and he explained the rules. How it worked was we would run behind Crash in the bush and when he called Ambush we would drop our water bottles and we would have 5 seconds to run away and hide in the bush. Then Crash had to try find us from staying on the track. When he had tried to find everyone he would say winners come out and they would win that round. It was lots of fun and a great way to start camp. The second activity of the day was orienteering we got split into teams, and we had to try to find landmarks in our groups by using a compass. We had a bad with a compass, a timer, a safety whistle and a heat blanket just in case we get lost and it’s cold. After we got back to the cabin, we had showers and dinner. then we had desert and played some party games that Ms Dawson have put together. just like that, the first day of camp was over.

On the second day of camp, our first activity after breakfast was a bush walk on the bush walk we made cubbies in small groups.I was with Caitlyn, Molly, Angie, Stevie, Ruby, and Clara. Our next activity was team building for team building. We did two games Iceberg game and Quicksand. For the iceberg game we were split into two teams. We had to try to get all of our team members onto the little carpet squares, but the only way you could walk on the icy cold water was if you were holding the magic ball. We could use anyway for our team to make it across to all of the carpet squares, but every round he would add in a new rule and we would have to try to get across without breaking that role.We had to find a loophole in the rules. in quicksand game we would have two planks. There were eight tyres and we had to get everyone across all the tyres to reach to the end. We started off rocky as we dropped one of the planks which meant we only had one plank to use which would be harder for everyone to get across slowly but surely we all got across without losing another plank. The last activity of the day was Archery Tag. we met with Batman and he showed us how to use the bows safely and correctly. We split into three teams and played games,It was like a game of dodgeball only with bows, arrows and head masks. there was big suction things on the end of each arrow.

Day three was definitely my favourite day after breakfast we did Forest Ecology, in forest ecology we did four things, we first had an introduction with Ice-Tea who was going to do forest ecology with us, then we dug up onion grass and put it in a rubbish bag, after that, we dug up some more plants that were not native to Australia. The last thing we did was we got to dig a whole tree! Then the whole class including Ice-Tea and Ms Dawson drags the tree to the goat pen, where we got to feed them. There were five goats that was Flash, Billy,Hutch,Spike and Coco, the only female goat. The second activity of the day was raft building, we split into teams of  five and we had to make a raft that  had to go from one side of the dam to the other side. The materials we used were barrels, rope and planks.None of the groups rafts made it across the dam without breaking but I reckon we all had a alot of fun planning and making them. The last activity of the day was the commando course. There was a lot of obstacles, including a rope climb a 6 foot wall, hurdles, a log walk and a mud pit.My  favourite obstacle was definitely the mud pit because we got really dirty. After everyone had gone through the mud pit we run up to the outdoor showers. Then after we were kind of clean, we went and had a shower indoor. but the water for the girls was very cold and the water for the boys was very hot. There must’ve been a malfunction in the water system.

We finished up by packing our stuff up into the bus and doing the flying fox. I got to go three times and it was very fun. my highlight from the trip was definitely rolling in the mud like a pig we said our goodbyes and then heading home. I think everyone had a great time. Best Camp Ever!!!

Our Week at Dwellingup!

We went to Dwellingup for camp last week. On the way there we went on a comfy bus with soft seats, and as soon as we arrived, we played a fun game together when we would hide in the bushland. It was called Ambush. After that, we had lunch. We played soccer all-together and it was lots of fun. We then got some compasses and ran around in orienteering, looking for specific destinations for points. We had afternoon tea afterwards and had a little bit of free time gathering firewood and playing soccer. Dinner was lasagna, and it was delicious. We had such a fun games night afterwards.

The next morning, I had 12 pieces of toast for breakfast, then we went out on a nice bushwalk and built lots of cubbies. The instructor taught us a lot about the surrounding nature and told us how to tell the difference between a Jarrah and a Marri. Ours definitely had the most insulation, but the instructor (Farm Ronaldo) thought the other one was better. After morning tea, we went out and did some fun games as teams. Afternoon tea was great, but afterwards was archery tag. Everyone loved it and I shot 17 children, as well as Mr. P. We then had chicken for dinner. While having dinner, we met Ice Tea, another camp instructor.

On the next day, we did “Forest Ecology” Iced Tea said we had to say it in a sing-song voice, and if we didn’t, we would get arrested. We spent a while uprooting lots of onion grass, and then we uprooted 4 trees and fed them to the goats. The next activity was raft building, and none of the teams could build a raft that would float for more than a minute. We played soccer with another school, then went to the commando course. After that we went to make a fire and roast marshmallows. Well, marshmallows, pears, and a mandarin. We then had dinner, which was delicious chicken pasta and garlic bread and salad. Afterwards we watched Blue-sky’s Ice age, and had Ice-cream, Oreos, and popcorn for dessert.

On the last day, we woke up and got ready to leave. After breakfast we went to the zipline, and everyone was very scared. I did it, though, and had a great time. We took some last photos of us and left camp in the Batmobile. Batman (also known as Kyle) drove us home, and when I got back, I went straight home, because all the boys were talking at camp and I didn’t get any sleep.
